For a start, some places will have a maximum number – no more people will fit – but many will also have a minimum number before they will allow you to book. This means you should always aim for a low number, which then allows for guests to be added later. - How much can you spend?
The next thing you need to do is decide how much your budget will allow. This will of course limit the choice of venues you can hire to a certain extent. Some venues can fit more people for a lower price, whilst other venues will fit less for more. It all depends on a lot of variables, such as location and popularity of the venue. Some venues may offer a discount for larger numbers of guests, however, even though this is a cost saving you may simply not be able to afford it. Most importantly is that you need to decide exactly what your budget is.
- When do you want to get married?
From the offset, you should choose the date you wish to get married. You may have a specific day you want to get married, whilst others are more flexible between months. Either way, you should plan your date well ahead of time, as you should expect wedding venues to be booked out for at least twelve months in the future, usually. The date of your wedding can have a huge impact on the style of your wedding, or the venue your eventually end up going with. A summer wedding in February will have a very different feel to a mid-winter wedding in July.
